Broncos QB Manning practices, will face Chiefs

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning increased his workload again on Friday and was officially listed as probable for Sunday night's AFC West showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Manning, who returned to limited practice Thursday after missing Wednesday's practice, has been dealing with a sore ankle.

"I don't know," interim coach Jack Del Rio said Friday when asked how close to 100 percent Manning is. "I'd let him get into that stuff, I can't speak for him on that. I just know he's ready to go and as a team, we're ready to go."

Manning suffered an ankle sprain in the Broncos' win over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday when he was hit by defensive end Corey Liuget. An MRI test on Monday revealed no other significant damage in the ankle.

The 37-year-old veteran has been bothered by sore ankles since the Broncos' loss to the Indianapolis Colts last month.

In nine games this season, Manning has completed 262 of 369 passes (71 percent) for 3,249 yards and 33 touchdowns with six interceptions.

Manning took part in the walk-through session before Wednesday's practice, which helped him stay up to speed in his mental preparation, then spent the two-hour practice receiving further treatment on his sore ankles. Nevertheless, he was a full participant by Friday and will play against the Chiefs.
