Today is National Draft Day:

Boise State gets green light for blue-on-blue

The SportsXchange

Boise State, its football players and its fans no longer are feeling blue over an NCAA proposal requiring that a team's uniform must be a different color than the playing field.

The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel's decision on Thursday gives the Broncos the green light to keep wearing their all-blue uniforms on their blue turf.

"I think they've finally come to their senses," coach Chris Petersen told the Idaho Statesman. "I think there's other things we need to pay attention to and worry about that are more important than what color uniform guys are wearing."

The oversight panel's decision also affects Oregon and Eastern Washington. The panel said the idea "did not enhance the image of the game."

While teams will be allowed to wear solid colors that match the field, jersey numbers must be one solid color and clearly visible, the panel said.

That decision will not affect Boise State as this year the Broncos will have new blue uniforms with white lettering.
