Bills re-sign QB Jackson

The Buffalo Bills have re-signed quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, the team announced Friday. Terms of his contract were not disclosed.

Jackson came to the Bills last August in a trade with Seattle for a draft pick. In 2011, he started 14 games for the Seahawks and passed for 3,091 yards and 14 touchdowns with 13 interceptions.

A 2006 second-round pick by Minnesota, Jackson spent his first five NFL seasons with the Vikings and started 18 games.

New Bills coach Doug Marrone said Jackson will compete with Ryan Fitzpatrick in the offseason for the starting job.

"I believe that our players will embrace this challenge," Marrone said.
