Bills cut P Powell after Benjamin sets record

Punter Shawn Powell was released by the Buffalo Bills a day after the Cleveland Browns' Travis Benjamin set a single-game franchise record with 179 return yards.

Benjamin had seven punt returns, including ones for 57 and 79 yards -- the latter going for a touchdown.

Powell, 24, took over the job from veteran Brian Moorman for the final 13 games of the 2012 season, averaging 38.1 net yards per punt. That averaged dipped to 35.2 yards through five games this season.
