Ben Roethlisberger still hurting from 'significant shot'

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said Tuesday he's still hurting from the illegal hit he received from Ravens linebacker Courtney Upshaw last Thursday, reports Steelers Depot. The hit, which drew a roughing-the-passer flag, occurred on Pittsburgh's first possession.

"I lost my breath instantly and remember hitting the ground thinking, 'Boy, that hurt a lot,'" Roethlisberger said in a radio interview about Upshaw burying himself into the quarterback's chest. "I kind of pride myself on not taking those big hits, but I sure as heck didn't see it coming."

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Roethlisberger was hurting the rest of the game. "That was a significant shot, but that comes with the territory and that's something that he's embraced over the years," the coach said.
