BASEBALL RECAP: TCU 7, Mississippi 4

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- TCU advanced to play UCLA at the Los Angeles Super Regional by eliminating Ole Miss, 7-4 at Olsen Field on Monday.

The top of the TCU order did most of the damage -- six of the Horned Frogs 10 hits and four RBIs came from the top four in the lineup, including a pair of hits from third baseman Jantzen White.

Justin Scharf, who was named the regional's most outstanding player, worked out of several jams and allowed just one run in 4 2/3 innings to get the win. He finished the regional with a save, a win and two hits allowed in 7 1/3 total innings in the regional.

UCLA dominated its regional and at 45-14 is a heavy favorite to advance to the College World Series. The Bruins have six players in the regular lineup batting .313 or better and are anchored by sophomore right-hander Adam Plutko, who is 10-3 with a 2.70 ERA.

UCLA pitching held opponents to a.242 batting average this season.
