Baseball-Major League Baseball roundup

May 13 (The Sports Xchange) - Major League Baseball announced that Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Ross Ohlendorf has been suspended three games and Reds manager Bryan Price has been suspended for one game after both were ejected during Wednesday's game against Pittsburgh. Price will serve his suspension during Friday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Ohlendorf will appeal his suspension and will be available to pitch until his appeal is heard. Bench coach Jim Riggleman managed the Reds Friday night. Ohlendorf and Price were ejected Wednesday when Ohlendorf hit Pittburgh's David Freese with a pitch in the top of the ninth after both teams had been given warnings. -- A dozen years after being the No. 1 overall pick of the 2004 draft, Matt Bush has reached the big leagues. Bush's career was presumed over when he spent 3 1/2 years in a Florida prison due to a drinking-fueled accident in which he nearly killed a motorcyclist. Bush was released from prison in October and signed a minor league deal with Texas in December after displaying he could still throw a baseball nearly 100 miles per hour. -- The Philadelphia Phillies selected the contract of first baseman Tommy Joseph Friday from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and optioned Darin Ruf to Lehigh Valley. Joseph, 24, who was batting .347 with a .611 slugging percentage at Lehigh Valley, made his major-league debut Friday. -- Former Baltimore Orioles pitcher Scott McGregor will take over as the team's pitching coach for four games starting Saturday while pitching coach Dave Wallace leaves to take care of a personal matter. -- The Detroit Tigers purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Warwick Saupold from Triple-A Toledo on Friday. He had a 3-1 record with a 2.37 ERA in eight games for the Mud Hens. Left-hander Daniel Norris was optioned to Toledo. -- The New York Yankees called up Gary Sanchez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and he was the starting designated hitter Friday. The Yankees optioned left-hander Tyler Olson to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. -- The Chicago White Sox officially requested waivers on left-handed pitcher John Danks, who was designated for assignment last week. Chicago also purchased the contract of left-hander Matt Purke from Triple-A Charlotte. (Editing by Larry Fine) ))
