Barn Door Cheat Sheet WK2

Welcome to another wonderful week of barn-door planning. I was pretty happy with my picks last week, especially as I look at my team this week - I’d happily include Lamela, Lloris, Kaboul, Costa, Fabregas, Kaboul, McGregor et al.

In the same way as last week, there are certain teams that you would expect to perform well during Week 3, such as Sunderland who will be away to Crystal Palace however these teams have been removed from my list due to their difficult games this week. Their price should therefore drop this and their fantasy studs easy to pick up next week.

The teams that I think should be focussed on when it comes to barn-door activities are Manchester United, Southampton, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Swansea (not in any particular order). In addition to this list I wanted to mention three Arsenal and Chelsea players who may well be part of your plans already but certainly should be part of your barn-door planning; Alexis Sanchez (25.75%), Diego Costa (39.89%) and Thibault Courtois (11.94%). Many of you will be aware from the articles here on Rotoworld that Yahoo, in the spirit of keeping a level playing field, has reduced these players to a little over £5m after a database hitch over the weekend. Whilst I’m wholeheartedly advocating including the two Chelsea players in week one, I suggest that you should leave Sanchez alone, but definitely look to bring him in over the weekend. In case you’re interested, the percentages against their names are the proportion of all teams that own them currently.

Manchester United

Marcos Rojo – No one really knows if he’ll perform, hell if he’ll play but, with the exception of getting the odd red card, he should be a quality defender on a quality team. (Correction – he is unable to play until he receives a work permit)

Robin Van Persie – Rooney was a stud last week and I’d understand any manager who’s fallen in love with him already. The trouble is that when RvP is back, Rooney is far less productive so getting the sharp end of the Manchester United attack for £14m seems like good business.

Juan Mata – Sitting behind Rooney and RvP puts him in a great position for shots on target and assist points. His price is just gonna keep on rising when he gets into his groove!

Southampton

Fraser Forster – At £3.89m he’s a steal especially for your bench. At home, to West Brom, I can’t see his price holding like this for long.

Ryan Bertrand – He’s been tipped on every player pick site I can see and for good reason. I’m happy to predict that he’ll cost you over 7 next week.

James Ward-Prowse – The focus of all that is good in the Southampton team currently. He’s proven in previous seasons that he knows how to score well in fantasy terms and I think that 6.83 is quite frankly the bargain to end all bargains. Rooney is priced at 21m and he’s not going to score three times as many points!

Newcastle

Siem De Jong – Listed as a forward but expected to be playing behind Riviere is less than ideal but who knows how he’s going to perform. If he hits the ground running then grab him before his £5.21 escalates.

Emmanuel Riveire – Yes Newcastle lost last week and yes, since Cabaye moved on there seems little to shout about but they were good in defeat last week. He scored 7 points last week which for a player who costs just £5.88m is a slice of fantasy gold.

Crystal Palace

Martin Kelly – Just pick him and put him on your bench. Do it now. Don’t argue.

Swansea

Wilfried Bony – This week he’s gonna get on the scoreboard and therefore his price will rocket. Buy now for ever hold your peace.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – If you didn’t get him last week, then get him this week. He’s going to end up being the most expensive midfielder in the game – mark my words.

Neil Taylor – Assuming he plays, his price is a great way of getting into a defence that faces West Brom next week. Remember to drop him before he faces Chelsea in week 4 though!
