Adam Morrison joins Gonzaga coaching staff

Former Gonzaga star Adam Morrison, who was the third overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, is taking classes at Gonzaga and will be a member of the Bulldogs' coaching staff this season, CBSSports.com reported.

"He'll be a student assistant," Few said, according to the report. "It'll be great. The players really respect him."

Morrison, 28, was a first-team All-American and won several national player of the year awards as a Gonzaga senior.

He played in the NBA for three seasons, but never reached the level expected of him. Morrison averaged 7.5 points for his career, playing his final NBA season in 2009-2010 for the Los Angeles Lakers.

His final attempt to make an NBA team came last season before he was cut by the Portland Trail Blazer in October 2012.
