The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in a must-win game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. They sit at 3-5 and are realistically not going to make the playoffs. However, a win against the Bears could put them right back in the playoff race.

But as the Bucs prepare to face another struggling team, they need some more guys to emerge. Nobody has done that on defense with injuries to Lavonte David, Noah Spence and Gerald McCoy. Jacquizz Rodgers has fit in nicely with Doug Martin out.

Mike Evans remains their only dangerous wide receiver, though. The Buccaneers are going to need some more help at wide receiver if they are to make some second-half noise. Adam Humphries appears to be that name.

He’s second in team receiving with 30 catches for 337 yards and a touchdown. Though Evans has eight touchdowns and is taking all the attention away from every one else on the team, Humphries has slowly come into his own.

He did have a 100-yard game against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3 and did have his first touchdown of the season in last week’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Humphries has been able to show flashes here-and-there, but it’s up to him to come on strong in the second half.

It’d be a huge favor for the Bucs. It’s clear they need another receiver. But if Humphries can be more of a factor in the second half, they won’t need to spend their cap space or draft picks on receivers.
