49ers Rogers won't mimick Cruz's salsa dance

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers told the New York Daily News that he will stop mimicking the salsa dance of Giants receiver Victor Cruz, according to a Daily News report.

Cruz began performing his salsa touchdown celebration as a tribute to his late grandmother, Lucy Molina, who died recently. Molina had taught Cruz the dance when he was a child.

Cruz performs the dance after scoring a touchdown, and Rogers imitated it after intercepting a pass intended for Cruz last season. The teams play each other on Sunday.

"I'm not gonna do it," Rogers told the Daily News. "That's a tribute to his grandmother. Once (I heard) that, I threw that out the door. It's definitely out."

Earlier this week, Cruz said he would've felt insulted if Rogers did the dance again Sunday.

"It's just something that I do for my grandmother," Cruz told reporters. "It's something that's sacred to me; it's something that's due to her passing. Before she passed away, it was something dear to me."
