Raptors among teams pursuing Dampier
The Toronto Raptors have joined the Milwaukee Bucks and Houston Rockets as leading suitors for free-agent center Erick Dampier(notes), a league source told Yahoo! Sports.
Dampier had narrowed his choices to the Bucks and Rockets, but Toronto – which could offer more than the veteran’s minimum of $1.4 million – has emerged as a serious contender to sign him.
Dampier, 35, has visited Houston and Miami to meet with executives and coaches, and may want to take more trips this week, a source said. He’s expected to make a decision this week, with training camps opening on Tuesday. Dampier averaged 6.3 points and seven rebounds for the Dallas Mavericks last season.
