From the Marbles - NASCAR

Kyle Busch has been parked for Sunday's Sprint Cup Series race and Saturday's Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway after intentionally crashing Ron Hornaday in Friday night's Camping World Truck Series race.

"[Busch being parked for Friday night's race is] done under section 9.12 of the rulebook, that gives NASCAR the authority to react during a race weekend. And following the event and after a good deal of conversation and discussion, NASCAR has decided to maintain that parked position on the driver of the 18 truck for the balance of the weekend," NASCAR president Mike Helton said Saturday morning.

"So basically what that means is that Kyle Busch will not be participating today or tomorrow in the NASCAR event here in Texas."

Joe Gibbs, Busch's team owner in the Cup and Nationwide Series, was at home in North Carolina and not at the track Friday night. He flew to Texas Saturday morning and met with NASCAR officials and Busch. Gibbs said he "trusts" NASCAR's decision. He would not divulge what he told Busch in their 1-on-1 meeting, but did say they "needed to get out here and meet with everybody we needed to meet with." In other words, Busch, who was not kicked out of the track, needs to make the rounds to apologize.

Busch's suspension is the first for a driver after the "Boys have at it" declaration from NASCAR — a statement that's been pointed to numerous times over the past two years when it comes to driver discipline.

"The responsibility that over the past two or three seasons we've given back to the drivers came, I think, with a very clear understanding that there could be a line that got crossed," Helton said. "And as annoying as the comments that I've made personally in the past of 'we'll know it when we see it' might have been, we saw it last night."

Michael McDowell will drive Busch's No. 18 car on Sunday.

Busch is currently in seventh place in the Chase for the Sprint Cup standings, 57 points behind points leader Carl Edwards with three races to go. Busch met with series officials before the start of Saturday morning's first practice session at Texas Motor Speedway.

The actions NASCAR took Saturday are not unprecedented. Both Kevin Harvick and Robby Gordon have been suspended for Cup races for actions on the track in other series. Perhaps somewhat ironically, Harvick's suspension came in 2002 after crashing Coy Gibbs — son of Joe Gibbs, Busch's Sprint Cup Series owner — in a Truck race at Martinsville. Harvick owns Hornaday's truck. Earlier this season, Harvick and Busch had a meeting on pit road after the Sprint Cup race in Darlington in May. Busch was also in a confrontation with Richard Childress, Harvick's owner in the Sprint Cup Series, after Busch raced RCR driver Joey Coulter hard for position in the Truck race at Kansas in June.

Got all that?

Gordon was suspended for the cartoonish finish to the Montreal Nationwide race in 2007 and disobeying NASCAR orders to serve a penalty. That was the last time NASCAR parked a driver for a Cup race.

Nascar did the right thing, but some of you big mouth, think you know it all, need to realize racing is bumping and pushing, smoke, fighting (sometimes), this is what make the sport interesting and not boring.
I was in the pits on Thursday at Texas, Harvick and Hornaday were thick as thieves. They should make a commercial " Kevin Harvick will do anything to win a race." telling his Driver Hornaday, put the 18, in the wall so I can win the owners points, and Kyle lost it (which he should not have, like many other times too.), and it went way too far. This is my opinion, and it you don't like it I sorry.

nascar sucks, go back and watch Kenseth vs stewart, daytona 2006, stewart reaches over in his car and turns the camera away so you cannot see what he is doing then on purpose spins matt into the wall at 200 mph, no penalty at all for tony stewart

Suspending Kyle was the right thing to do. However, it wasn't enough. His car should be parked too. Why should he still be allowed to get Chase points? It doesn't seem fair.

    Here’s a thought!

Put those two drivers out on a track for 10 laps…

I guarantee that the race would never end!

It's about time NASCAR did something to the biggest baby in motorsports. This out of control jerk should be suspended indefinately for his repeated indiscresions and lack of sportsmanship. He repeatedly makes the wrong decisions while racing and is incapable of acting like a decent person on or off the track. He needs a good @#$% whooping to wake him up and face the reality of his dragging NASCAR's name through the mud repeatedly and his lack of respect towards the rest of the drivers. This jackass should not be allowed to participate in any way shape or form in any class of racing, anywhere, period!!! No ownership, no driving, no jackass at the track, nothing!!! A complete outright ban from racing. It's time to set an example and who is more deserving than the Big Baby himself?

Kyle Busch thinks when he's on the track everyone else should move over and let hin win everything.Ron had a different plan he was in the chase Kile wasn't . Kyle could have moved up a foot and been a gentleman and a good sport and we would be talking about something else today. It's that kind of arrogance and disreguard for his fellow competitors that makes him a zero instead of a hero. Someday soon if he as allowed to continue ( which I doubt) the one constant in the sport of racing will get him when he least expects it. THE WALL .

What Kyle Bush did this weekend was by far one of the most selfish, appalling things I have seen in a very long time. Not only did he not care about anyone other than himself, his actions could have easily cost someone their life, not to mention a whole lot of other drivers their safety. Inexcusable.

If NASCAR does not suspend this idiot for the rest of the season at the very least, they lose so much credibility and respect.

Perhaps Joe Gibbs would do well to reassess his team. Clearly, the one he has is not working out so well.

Kyle Bush displayed the most appalling behavior I have seen from anyone in a very long time. Straight up, what he purposely did could have cost someone their life.

He simply has no regard, and should be suspended for at least a season in my opinion. Perhaps Joe Gibbs needs to take a step back and reassess his team.

Do most of you posters even know whats going on? RCR/Harvick/Hornaday have been bullying Kyle Busch all year. They have wrecked his truck 3 races in a row. Kyle stood up for himself. The only mistake Kyle made is he should have waited until a green flag. Under NASCAR rules "boys have at it" he would NOT received a 2 race suspension under the green flag. Dont forget that Helton and Childress are friends so Helton has a double standard when it comes to suspending people at RCR.

This is the first comment I've ever made and I know this will get abunch of thumps down but what ever, Kyle's my favorite driver and what he did friday was dirty, no question but if it had been him getting put in the wall all of u haters would have approved. I went to the race in martinsville and saw all the big name drivers because of the small environment, there ONLY 1 driver who took 3 simple seconds to willing wave at me. That driver was Kyle Busch and believe me i respectfully tried to get all the other driver's attention, on top of that there's only a small handful of driver's who driver like the old skool nascar hero's and 1 of those guys is Kyle Busch. Dale Sr. was hated most of career and probably in some since unappreciated. Kyle isn't the classiest guy 4 sure but lets not make the same mistake we made before with this dude. Or else will be kicking ourselves when we lose him 1 day.

Here's one old mans opinion. Look at the grandstands there not even half full even though they try to spread them out to look like they have a crowd. The new era of Drivers and NASCAR's stupidity does not sell tickets. The two by two racing at Taladega and Daytona is a joke and no one likes it . However NASCAR much like our Government Thinks they know more than we do and they dont care what we think. I know things change old is out new is in But they have now gotten a taste of what new does to an old sport . The nwe class wants to make all the changes but they wont support the sport we older ones buy more tickets than the new.

RCR has had an agenda to harass Kyle Busch all year.

    1. The incident on pit road when Harvick hit Busch AFTER the race was over and received no suspension.
    2. Harvick trying run Busch off the track at Pocono.
    3. Childress smacking Busch in the head after a truck race [Childress is still on probation for that].
    4. Hornaday [he drives for Harvick in the truck series] trying to wreck Busch early at Texas.

Kyle should NOT back down to the RCR bullies. Kyle should take out Dillon [Childress grand kid] early in the last truck race at Miami so Dillon/RCR doesnt win the truck championship. Give RCR a taste of their own medicine. Its called karma.

There has to be more of a punishment than making him sit out a couple of races. He caused a great deal of damage. I agree with him being out the rest of the year if not longer, a fine, & replacing what he destroyed.

Kyle took out one of the most polite drivers in NASCAR. You won't find the little coward messing with Johnson, Stewart, Montalvo, Newman, or J Gordon. He should have been suspended for the balance of the season, not one weekend.

Busch is a childish punk. He should be paying for Hornaday's damages out of his own pocket. Then NASCAR should suspend Busch from racing for 2012 too. Teach that idiot a lesson.
