Angels sign lefty Fuentes as closer
Whatever it is, it ain't Mark Teixeira.
On Wednesday, with part of the money earmarked for the switch-hitting first baseman lost to the Yankees, the Angels signed lefty Brian Fuentes to cover the ninth inning.
He'll replace Francisco Rodriguez and, at $17.5 million over two seasons, at a fraction of the cost. A third-year option for $9 million vests with 55 games finished in 2010.
Rodriguez, who saved a record 62 games in 2008, signed with the Mets for three years, $37 million.
