Big League Stew - MLB

Another day, another free agent signing press conference in New York. This time it was CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett doing a meet n' greet with the media at Old and New Yankee Stadium. If you're looking for more info on the day, Scott Proctor's Arm has the recap  while NYT's Tyler Kepner reveals what happens to those ceremonial first jerseys.

Also worth noting is that two teams held pressers to introduce their new relievers — the Mets for J.J. Putz and the Tribe for Kerry Wood.

With all that said, it's time to have at it, amateur Internet copy editors of the world.

1st — Vaffanculo.

"Hey, where's Strumpet Claus from few years ago, when Kris Benson played Santa?"

2nd — levinebr.

"Santa gives out the same thing to young Mets fans that they get year ... disapointment. They aren't allowed to unwrap it until September."

3rd — Jordan.

"I'm not real, and neither are our playoff chances. Here, take the pennant we won't be winning this year. Ho, Ho, Ho!""

AJ: Hey CC, how'd you get a bigger contract than me?
CC: If we make the playoffs, I have to pinch hit for A-Rod.

Smile now while the stadium's empty. Lord knows how hard it'll be once it's full of Yankee fans.

Due to the Yankees spending so much on the two contracts they will not be able to finish the stadium construction for three years.

Burnett: Well CC, nobody's gonna show up when they can't afford to put more than 2 players on the field.

The upcoming MLB season has had a schedule change, due to all players now being on the new york teams, the rest of the league will not play, and the yankees will play the mets 162 times, followed by a best of 11 of 21 world series due to no league playoffs. Thank you for your interest in MLB and supporting the steinbrenner follies high dollar escapades on ice!! Oh, and bud (no, i did not play slugworth in the original willy wonka )selig continues to insist the game of baseball is in fine shape despite crowds of 12 at royals and pirates games, and the world series tv ratings scoring lower rating points than reruns of mash on nick at nite! I love the NFL

Look up there! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's... my soul. Well at least we'll be winners now. It's not like they could possibly outspend everyone else and still lose, right? Right?
