Alaves beats Getafe with both in mid-table in the Spanish league

VITORIA-GASTEIZ, Spain (AP) — Alaves beat Getafe 1-0 to leapfrog the visitor and move into 10th place in the Spanish league on Saturday. Forward Carlos Vincente used one touch to control a lobbed pass by Rubén Duarte and struck a powerful shot that goalkeeper David Soria got his hands on but could not keep out in the 12th minute. Quique García also hit the crossbar for Alaves. The win came one day after Alaves coach Luis García Plaza agreed to extend his contract through 2026.
