Rangers won't carry weight of Presidents' Trophy in Stanley Cup quest
They're different, of course, but you don't have to stretch too far to find some comparisons between the New York Rangers of this season to the Boston Bruins of last season. Each won the Presidents' Trophy, awarded to the team with the best record in the NHL. Each set team records for wins and points in a regular season; Boston set NHL records last season with 65 wins and 135 points; New York set team records with 55 wins and 114 points. The Bruins were and the Rangers are expected to at least get through the Eastern Conference First Round.
