Father, son die in fiery Lake County crash
A father and son died Christmas Eve in a fiery crash in Lake County near Wekiwa Springs State Park, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
A 21-year-old Summerfield man was driving a SUV east on State Road 46 around 1:30 p.m. Friday when he crossed into the west lanes and collided with a car travelling west, said FHP Lt. Kim Montes.
The car, which was driven by a 49-year-old man with his 27-year-old son as a passenger, caught fire. The father died on scene while the son was taken to Orlando Health where he later died.
The SUV driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Montes said.
The crash is under investigation.
