Todd Frazier honors James Gandolfini
Cincinnati Reds third baseman Todd Frazier is a proud New Jersey native. A star for the Toms River team that won the 1998 Little League World Series, Frazier was also a standout at Rutgers University before becoming a Major Leaguer. Out of his loyalty to the Garden State (and as a nod to his grandparents), Frazier uses a couple Frank Sinatra tunes ("Come Fly With Me" and "Fly Me To The Moon") as his "batting songs." But when the 27-year old heard about James Gandolfini's passing Wednesday, Frazier changed things up.
In honor of james gandolfini (tony soprano)who suddenly passed away Illbe using his song at bat during game 2morrow #jerseyboy #rutgers #rip

What an icon. He made the best show "The Sopranos" in the world. Rest in peace my friend. #hero

True to his tweets, the strums of Alabama 3's "Woke Up This Morning" – aka the theme song for "The Sopranos" – were heard over the Great American Ballpark's p.a. system as Frazier approached the plate against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The infielder/outfielder went 1-for-3 in the 5-3 loss to the Buccos. But you gotta love his unique tribute to the iconic actor - right down to his pregame tweet.
