David Luiz scores amazing goal

Chelsea defender David Luiz has a flair for the dramatic. The soon-to-be 26-year old vice-captain of the Brazilian national team scored what can only be described as a Goal-of-the-year candidate in Wednesday's Premier League match between Fulham and the Blues.

Playing in a scoreless draw at Craven Cottage, Luiz drilled a looping 35-yard strike in the 30th minute to the back corner of goal. Chelsea went on to defeat Fulham 3-0 as captain John Terry added a pair of goals in the victory.

Moving to American football, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is building a summer home in Prouts Neck, Maine. By the looks of a few photos released to the sports website Deadspin, the commish will be living large soon. Of course, you would expect someone who was reported to have made nearly $30 million in the 2011 tax year to have nice digs.

Finally, the Los Angeles Lakers made the playoffs. L.A. needed overtime to beat Houston 99-95 to clinch the seventh seed in the Western Conference (the Lakers had already locked up a postseason berth thanks to an 86-70 Utah loss to Memphis earlier Wednesday evening). Dwight Howard and Co. will play the San Antonio Spurs in a first-round series that gets underway Sunday afternoon.
