Is Jeopardy a sport? We asked Tournament of Champions winner Alex Jacob (Podcast)
Yes, the Grandstanding podcast is usually a place where Jay Busbee and I talk sports, mostly football.
But for our latest episode, we went in a different and fun direction and brought aboad Alex Jacob. He went on Jeopardy earlier this year and won six straight shows before returning in November to capture the show's annual $250,000 Tournament of Champions. He ran away with the two-day final and was told by Alex Trebek that his perfomance in the tournament was the most dominating he'd ever seen.
Jacob is also a well-known poker player, having won the 2006 U.S. Poker Championship while also reaching four World Series of Poker final tables.
During the podcast, we asked Jacob several questions, including:
• Is Jeopardy a sport?
• How did he get on Jeopardy? What was it like behind the scenes?
• How did he prepare for his appearance?
• How did his poker success translate to success on Jeopardy?
• How many of these 10 Final Jeopardy baseball clues could he answer?
• How bad does he want to face Ken Jennings?
• What does he plan to master next now that he's won big at both poker and game shows?
• And, finally, the one question that gets asked of anyone who's ever been on Jeopardy: What is Alex Trebek really like?
