No rest for the best: Serena practiced after her second-round win
NEW YORK – Serena Williams made a pit stop before heading into her post-match press conference on Wednesday. She'd just won her second-round match in Arthur Ashe Stadium, but she didn't think it was a good enough win.
She felt she needed more practice. And the practice courts were available. So, that's where she went.

When she did eventually sit down with the media, she explained that she just wasn't satisfied with the straight-set win. "You know, I don't think you should be happy with just winning," she said. "At least I'm not. Maybe other people can. ... You know, if I don't play well, I'm not going to be happy even if I won."
She double-faulted 10 times in the match, including eight times in the first set. Coach Patrick Mouratoglou had joined her for the half-hour tune-up.
"Patrick told me some things that he saw that he thought I could work on to improve it and to get better," she explained. "I'll see tomorrow how I am in practice, how I am with serving. I'll see how I do tomorrow."
