Costa Rica fans made a casket for Mexico ahead of World Cup qualifier

The welcoming committee of Costa Rica fans waiting at the airport for Mexico to arrive wasn't quite as large or furious as the one that greeted the USA in September, but they did go to the trouble of bringing an arts and crafts project.  The small group of jubilant Costa Rica supporters mocked their guests' misfortune and potential danger of not qualifying for the World Cup with a coffin draped in Mexico's colors propped up on the back of a pickup truck. Inside the coffin, was a skeleton wearing a Mexico kit.

Currently sitting fourth in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying table and in position for a playoff against New Zealand to decide whether they will reach Brazil, Mexico need a result against second-place Costa Rica. Though the home side can't catch the United States with just one match left to play, they are just one point ahead of Honduras, who only have last-place Jamaica left to play. Panama, who are three points behind Mexico, must face the U.S. (if that's confusing, the full table and breakdown can be seen here).

Mexico took a vital three points from their match on Friday against Panama with a spectacular late overhead kick from Raul Jimenez. If they fail to finish at least fourth, then they might want to stay in Costa Rica and begin new lives as anything that doesn't require business trips back to Mexico.
