Boxer Tyson Fury mistakenly challenges Liverpool Ladies' Lucy Bronze on Twitter
Frustrated by opponent Dereck Chisora pulling out of Saturday's scheduled heavyweight bout with a fractured hand, boxer Tyson Fury took to Twitter and attempted to call out the next man on his list, Deontay Wilder. But instead of using Wilder's @BronzeBomber Twitter handle, the undefeated, 6-foot 9 Fury ended up using the @LucyBronze handle of Liverpool Ladies defender Lucy Bronze instead.
After former heavyweight champ David Haye twice backed out of fights against Fury under similar circumstances, the Manchester born fighter was apparently too incensed by having a match crumble at the last minute for a third time to bother checking his rants before tweeting. So, he ended up including the oddly punctuated call-out of "@LucyBronze I want u punk.?"
For the record, this is Lucy Bronze, 22-year-old England international who became the first British player to win the NCAA Cup with the University of North Carolina in 2009...
And this is Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder...
Lucy Bronze did see the humor in the situation, though. She tweeted her amusement before declining to fight Fury.
Hahaha the tweets I'm getting because of this.... Sorry to let everyone down, but I'm unavailable for a fight 👎 👊💪😂 pic.twitter.com/lPCWXQ8Yk5

Fury eventually caught on to his mistake, but didn't exactly apologize.
Ok I pressed the wrong person@LucyBronze.

He then decided to just challenge whoever.
If any1 feels like a fight I'm in Bolton town centre& I feel like a rumble. See what the BBOC make of this.

And that's what happens when challenging people to fights on Twitter goes wrong.
