Jon Bon Jovi, Roger Goodell dine in NYC ... talking Buffalo Bills ownership?

The New York Post is reporting that musician-turned-football businessman Jon Bon Jovi and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had lunch Thursday in New York City.

We don't know what the two had to eat at the power-lunch spot Fresco by Scotto — we might have tried the Pappardelle with Wild Mushroom & Duck Ragu, for what it's worth — but there's little doubt what they talked about.

“They were definitely talking business,” the Post reports. “Jon was taking notes — he had a pen and paper with him at the table.”

Bon Jovi wants to buy the Buffalo Bills. Goodell is a good man to cozy up to about such things.

The "Livin' On A Prayer" rocker has joined forces with Toronto-based investment group Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment — which owns the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs, the NBA’s Toronto Raptors franchise and MLS's Toronto FC soccer club — in an effort to buy the Bills, which came open for sale when longtime owner Ralph Wilson passed away in March.

For years, Bon Jovi has been buddies with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick, often attending their practices and games. Bon Jovi also has been close with Denver Broncos GM and executive vice president of football operations John Elway, whom Bon Jovi met when the two were owners of AFL teams in the mid-to-late 2000s. Bon Jovi previously considered buying a stake of the Atlanta Falcons.

Bidding for the Bills is expected to be fierce. The lawfirm handling the sale of the club, Proskauer Rose, has distributed documents related to the sale to prospective buyers, including a non-disclosure agreement and a teaser-sale document.

Several viable and highly visible candidates for ownership have emerged, including Donald Trump, former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, current Sabres owner Terry Pegula and former Sabres owner Tom Golisano. The price of the franchise could exceed $1 billion.
