What to watch on Saturday night
If you have plans for tonight, cancel them. Dinner reservations can be rebooked, that date can wait a few nights, and your friends who are getting married will still be married when the Olympics are over. This is not a night of television that you want to miss.
7:30 p.m. ET, NBC: Look for the 100m track finals, pitting three of the world's fastest men, Tyson Gay and Jamaica's Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell against each other. This race should be amazing, and quite likely record-breaking. The women's marathon will be live* with Athens bronze medalist Deena Kastor leading the way for the U.S.
10:00 p.m. ET, NBC: Michael Phelps tied Mark Spitz's record for gold on Friday with an amazing win in the 100m fly. Tonight, he has the chance to break Spitz's record, but he'll need a little help from his friends in the 4x100 medley relay. Dara Torres, the 41-year-old mom, will try to win her 10th Olympic medal in the 50m free. These events will all air live.*
See what I mean? Order some takeout, put up your feet and enjoy. It's going to be quite a night.
*Live only means live in the Eastern and Central time zones, but the good news is that for track and field events, we will all live in a tape-delayed world.
