Watch this Zemgus Girgensons Latvian hip-hop tribute video
Zemgus Girgensons is, as you know, one of this season’s breakout stars. He’s “The Legend of Zemgus.” He’s an NHL All-Star Game starter. He’s, for lack of a better phrase, “Zemgus Good.”
He’s also a bit of a sensation back home in Latvia, where they helped him to nearly 1.7 million all-star votes, increasing the non-North American vote total by 7,000 percent from 2012.
How much of a sensation? Well, it’s not every day that an NHL player gets his own hip-hop tribute video. Well, Ovechkin probably does, come to think of it.
Olas put together the song heard here, cleverly titled “Zemgus Girgensons,” and it’s fantastic. OK, we assume it's fantastic. It takes place in a club with models earing Buffalo Sabres hats. We don’t speak Latvian, unfortunately.
That said, here’s our best guess at lyrics:
“Votes on votes for the all-star game/
