Toledo Walleye to celebrate 'Grapes' with 'Don Cherry Jersey Night' (Photo)
On Jan. 23 the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye will wear jerseys inspired by legendary hockey analyst Don Cherry.
The jerseys take Cherry’s outlandish suits into account as far as design above is a photo of the outfit.
The Walleye explained the reasoning behind the promotion on their website.
It’s Hockey Night in Toledo! The Toledo Walleye and WIOT are teaming up to celebrate one of the biggest personalities in hockey history during ‘Don Cherry Jersey Night’ at the Huntington Center on Saturday, January 23. The jerseys worn by the Walleye that night will be as loud as ‘Grapes’ is!

The jerseys will be sold by a live auction after the game with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society and the Walleye Wishing Well.
The Walleye are known to use different types of jerseys for promotional purposes. Earlier this season they celebrated “8-Bit Night” with video game themed jerseys. Last season in a game against the Evansville IceMen, teams engaged each other in Batman and Riddler jerseys. They also wore Boy Scouts of America jerseys in 2012.
