Sean Avery on NY Rangers: ‘Fire this Clown’

In fashion, everything old becomes comes around again eventually. Same goes for fashion obsessed former NHL players, apparently, as we’ve had a breakout of Sean Avery in our lives recently.

First he appeared on the E! network’s “Fashion Police” with Joan Rivers, helping to count down the most stylish athletes. On Saturday night, after his former team the New York Rangers lost to the Montreal Canadiens, Avery took to Twitter to opine about their plummeting fortunes:

The tweet came after Avery re-tweeted a follower who suggested that Avery would benefit the Rangers more than Marian Gaborik.

We’ll just go ahead and assume that the “CLOWN” in question is coach John Tortorella, who once waived Avery with the caveat that “I think we have better players than Sean Avery, plain and simple.”

(Demerits for attempting to revive the Charlie Sheen #Winning hashtag, even in irony.)

This is likely catnip to disgruntled Rangers fans, that have supported Avery in the past over Tortorella. It also comes at a time when the hockey world is wondering exactly what Avery is putting forth: That Tortorella’s messages are lost on increasingly apathetic players. Which is to say it comes at the wrong time for the Rangers.
