NHL Three Stars: Versteeg’s big third; Oilers stunned

No. 1 Star: Kris Versteeg, Chicago Blackhawks 

Versteeg had a goal and two assists on Patrick Kane tallies in the third period, as the Blackhawks rolled past the St. Louis Blues, 4-1.

No. 2 Star: Mathieu Perreault, Winnipeg Jets

Perreault tipped home a Jacob Trouba shot just 17 seconds into overtime for a 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers. He earlier assisted on Trouba’s first-period goal.

No. 3 Star: Jason Pominville, Minnesota Wild

The Wild forward needed a little luck to break a 10-game goal drought. He got it on this tally in the second period to give Minnesota a 2-0 lead, and an eventual 2-1 victory.

Honorable Mention: Corey Perry had two assists and a goal in the shootout as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Philadelphia Flyers, 5-4. … Wayne Simmonds had two goals, including the game-tying goal with less than three seconds left. … Antti Raanta made 40 saves for Chicago. … Dustin Byfuglien scored the game-tying goal with 3:06 left in the third period.

Dishonorable Mention:  Michal Rozsival nailed Vladimir Tarasenko with an elbow, drawing a minor and Dan Carcillo into taking a misconduct. ... Eric Tangradi was ejected for boarding Christian Folin.
