Lightning remember 2014 Cup win, thanks to unfortunate tribute typo (Video)

The Tampa Bay Lightning did some light trolling on Monday night, celebrating the tenth anniversary of their 2004 Stanley Cup win just prior to a game versus the Vancouver Canucks, who have won zero Stanley Cups in 40 years.

It was almost a perfect celebration, and the crowd ate it up, especially when John Tortorella, the coach of the Stanley Cup champion Lightning, crossed enemy lines to be honoured with the rest of the 2004 team.

I say almost perfect, however, because they made one glaring error: while the Lightning celebrated the events of June 7, 2004, the day they won the Stanley Cup, the Jumbotron introduced a tribute video celebrating June 7, 2014, a day whose events are yet to be determined.

Rough start there. Maybe it's foreshadowing?

Fortunately, the rest of the tribute video was pretty great, especially the footage of the man I can only assume was Harry Ellis from Die Hard pumping up the Lightning before the seventh and deciding game, which was won 2-1 thanks to two goals from Ruslan Fedotenko.

But seriously, when celebrating the tenth anniversary of a specific date, getting that date correct seems pretty important. That's advice my dad gave me on my tenth birthday, July 20th, 2095.
