Jamie Benn plays keep-away from Blue Jackets, scores awesome goal (Video)

The headline from the Dallas Morning News: “Should Dallas Stars fans panic with zero points for Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin through two games?”

Besides being a tad wordy, the answer of course is “no.” And on Tuesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, both Seguin and Benn scored their first goals of the season – the latter in spectacular fashion.

Benn took the puck away from Scott Hartnell in the Blue Jackets’ zone. He skated back to the blue line and appeared to fire a shot that was blocked right back to him. Then Artem Anisimov joined the party, trying to swipe the puck away, but Benn remained in control. At one point he was sandwiched by the defenders, but muscled through. Hartnell, as he’s wont to do, hit the ice in a diving attempt to get the puck, but missed.

Now in the clear, Benn skated to the slot and absolutely bulleted a shot past Sergei Bobrovsky for a 2-0 Dallas Stars lead.

So no, there’s really no need for Dallas Stars fans to panic about Jamie Benn.
