Chris Clark wasn’t pleased with the officiating in the NAHL’s Wenatchee Wild’s game against the Kenai River Brown Bears on Saturday night. So the assistant coach decided to make a statement. A really, really hilariously inappropriate statement that involved mockery of the visually impaired and prop comedy in the third period.

Watch this. Because you’ve never seen anything like it before on a hockey rink:

From Jon Frank of Wenatchee World:

Dressed in a bow tie and sporting sunglasses, the assistant coach walked onto the ice using a hockey stick to imitate a walking stick as a means of commentating on the night’s officiating. The fans loved it — the officiating staff did not.

Clark paced around the rink like a blind man tapping his stick on the ice and got tossed from the game. At that point, the Wild (28-7-4 overall) had given up their second goal of the game to the Brown Bears while shorthanded.

The home team was understandably frustrated, but became considerably more upset after the bench received a misconduct immediately after scoring a game-tying goal with 11 minutes in the final period.

“I don’t know what he (the referee) could have heard from center ice with 3,500 screaming,” Clark said.

Clark was ejected from the game, as was head coach Bliss Littler. Perhaps they were blind to the repercussions of their actions ...

Congrats to Chris Clark for the single greatest referee protest ... well, ever.

Some throw sticks. Some throw benches. But you, sir, took it to the most blissful extremes. We can only assume you couldn't rustle up enough pencils to sell them out of a tin cup. We can only assume you didn’t haul out the seeing eye dog because his little paws would skid around on the ice too much.

It was truly the greatest thing that you couldn’t have seen for about three minutes before your ejection.
