During warmups in advance Game 1 at SAP Center, a black cat ran off the Sharks bench, onto the ice, and then through a doorway off the ice. It’s unclear how the cat even got near the bench area to begin with. According to CSN Bay Area's Kevin Kurz, it was a loose cat that entered the building.

Cats interrupting sporting events actually aren’t a rare occurrence. In fact, the website The Catington Post points out the “long history” of such moments when cats are involved in sports. Though the story also notes that cats entering sporting events aren’t necessarily bad luck for the home team.

Read here why black cats are considered bad luck.

San Jose was down 1-0 early in the second period then rallied with five goals in the third period to take Game 1, 5-2. The team's social media then started to note the cat may be a good luck charm rather than bad luck.

The Sharks are considered the favorite in this series against the Predators as well as one of the most impressive playoff teams so far in 2016.
