Schools that used to be in the Big East reportedly might have a patriotic new conference name

Since "Mediocre Dozen" and "A Shell of its Former Self" are probably not best for marketing, it seems like the schools that used to be in the Big East are leaning towards "America 12 Conference" as their new name.

The "Catholic 7" will take the name Big East with them for their new basketball conference, so the football schools in the flailing former Big East needed to pick a new name. ESPN's Brett McMurphy had the scoop:

Eh. We've heard worse if that's what it goes with. And since we won't be talking about that conference much anymore, it doesn't matter too much.

The league name makes sense since its members are scattered across the country. McMurphy also reported the conference registered the domain name AmericaOne.org, so maybe that's a possibility. Patriotic, no matter what.

Hey, maybe this name will eventually lead to the millions and millions of dollars in television revenue the conference had said it would deliver to all its members.
