Nevada coach Brian Polian visited him in the hospital on Friday and said Melcher was sitting up. Melcher has been in the intensive care unit at a Reno, Nev. medical center because of a brain infection.
Single best sight I've seen in a long, long time - Tucker sitting up and looking great ! #WolfPackFamily

On Thursday, his father, Bubba Melcher, said an MRI had shown swelling had decreased in his brain. Tucker Melcher became ill over spring break, when he thought he had a sinus infection. However, his condition deteriorated and had a fever and two seizures after he went home to Reno.
He had also been suffering paralysis on his left side, but his father told the Reno Gazette-Journal that he was able to move his left arm and leg upon doctor's commands.
Melcher walked on to Nevada's football team before the 2013 season and redshirted last year.
