Mississippi State can’t escape bad news.

Three players, including quarterback Dak Prescott, were assaulted at a concert last weekend, leading receiver De’Runnya Wilson was arrested for marijuana possession on Friday and then news emerged Monday that lineman Elgton Jenkins was also arrested.

According to the Clarion Ledger, Jenkins, a freshman, was arrested last Thursday “due to a warrant regarding simple assault.” Jenkins was booked and released on bond from Oktibbeha County jail on Thursday, but MSU Police did not offer any further details.

“We have very high standards and expectations for all of our student-athletes," MSU head coach Dan Mullen said in a statement. "Any time an accusation is made against one of our student-athletes, we investigate fully and not jump to any conclusions."

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Jenkins was a Rivals two-star recruit in the class of 2014. The Clarksdale, Miss., native redshirted his first year on campus.

Mississippi State is scheduled to begin spring practice on Wednesday.
