Lane Kiffin predicts that USC will beat fifth-ranked Stanford Saturday

In a radio interview Thursday, former USC coach Lane Kiffin, who was fired in September, predicted that the Trojans would upset No. 5 Stanford Saturday night.

Kiffin also predicted that the Trojans would win the rest of their games this season and compared USC quarterback Cody Kessler to Stanford’s Kevin Hogan.

“I think they’re going to run the table,” Kiffin said. “USC’s quarterback (Kessler) is actually playing better than Stanford’s.”

Statistically, Kiffin has a point. Kessler has completed nearly 82 percent of his passes in wins over Oregon State and California the past two weeks, but Hogan has efficiently managed Stanford’s offense all season while the Cardinal relied on an impressive ground attack that was put on display in their upset of Oregon.

Kiffin later went on to discuss the coaching search, saying he thinks athletic director Pat Haden will try to get a big name and make a “sexy hire.”

Kiffin also endorsed interim coach Ed Orgeron, saying that “he deserves another chance” at a head coaching gig, whether it’s at USC or elsewhere.
