CMU DL Mitch Stanitzek ejected for targeting, Syracuse QB Eric Dungey leaves game

Central Michigan defensive lineman Mitch Stanitzek was ejected during the first half of Saturday’s game against Syracuse after a late hit against quarterback Eric Dungey.

Dungey was already being tackled after releasing a touchdown pass to Dontae Strickland when Stanitzek struck Dungey helmet-to-helmet.

Dungey was down for several minutes while trainers attended to him on the field. He ultimately walked off under his own power, but did not return to the game.

Stanitzek was assessed a roughing the passer penalty and ejected for targeting.

The pass put Syracuse up 17–3 with 9:20 left in the half. Dungey completed 3 of 6 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown and added 50 yards and a score on the ground before leaving the contest.
