Arizona fires 2 more defensive coaches, including DC Jeff Casteel

Arizona defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel and defensive line coach Bill Kirelawich have been relieved of their positions, the school announced Monday.

The Arizona defense ranked 113th in total defense allowing 463 yards per game and 35.7 points per game. Only two Pac-12 teams were worse than the Wildcats.

Castell, who also coached linebackers, coached under Rodriguez at West Virginia from 2001-07, including five years as defensive coordinator. Kirelawich also worked with Rodriguez from 2001-07 as the defensive line coach for the final five years.

Arizona already released cornerbacks coach David Lockwood. Safeties coach Matt Caponi is the only defensive coach that hasn’t been removed.
