Link between Chipotle outbreak and sick Boston College players examined

As many as 10 members of the Boston College basketball team have reported gastrointestinal issues as of Monday evening and they could be linked to an E. coli. outbreak at Chipotle restaurants.

Senior center Dennis Clifford missed Sunday's loss to UMass-Lowell and the team started five freshmen in the game. One of them, Jerome Robinson, was able to play through his sickness and led the team with 16 points.

Other students on campus also have become sick after reportedly eating at a Chipotle restaurant in Cleveland Circle. Boston College said in a statement the Massachusetts Department of Public Health is investigating whether the sicknesses are related to an outbreak of E. coli. at Chipotle.

The Boston Herald reported the Cleveland Circle Chipotle is temporarily closed after contacting the restaurant by telephone.

The Eagles don't play again until Wednesday when they will travel to No. 15 Providence. That could be an unpleasant road trip for anyone anyone on the team still fighting through the sickness. Boston College will be trying to break a five-game losing streak.
