Dunk of the Year nominee: Vanderbilt forward Jeffery Taylor

Whatever Georgia's defense was trying to prevent Vanderbilt from doing on this first-half inbounds play Wednesday night, it's probably safe to say it failed.

The Bulldogs allowed 6-foot-7 Jeffery Taylor to knife untouched down the lane and throw down a one-handed alley-oop dunk so jaw-dropping it earned Play of the Day honors on ESPN's "SportsCenter."

"Whenever you have an electrifying play like that, it kind of gets everybody going," Taylor told reporters after the game. "It's what the crowd wants. It's kind of a crowd pleaser and it definitely pumps your own teammates up, so it's a good thing."

Taylor's heroics sparked Vanderbilt to a 73-66 win over Georgia that helped ease the sting of last week's disappointing overtime loss to South Carolina in the Commodores' SEC opener. John Jenkins and Festus Ezeli scored 18 points apiece and Taylor had 15 as a balanced Vanderbilt attack fended off every second-half run Georgia mustered.
