DeSean Jackson likely to play for Redskins vs Browns

Rumors are swirling that Johnny Manzeil will make his first career start next Monday night when the Browns visit the Redskins, but Manziel won't be the only player with a big-time debut. Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson expects to make his first start for the Burgundy and Gold as well on Monday, turning up the star-power for both team's second preseason game.

"I'm going to be out there flying around with my teammates," said Jackson, the Redskins' prize free agent acquisition this past offseason.

"I felt good, man," he said. "Had a little sore, bruised ankle for the last couple days. So good to be back in the midst of things. Felt good."

Jackson missed the Redskins first preseason game, a 23-6 win over New England, after twisting his ankle in a training camp practice. The injury is not considered serious.

"He did some cutting to day, scored a couple of touchdowns so he’s in good shape," said head coach Jay Gruden. "I think now it’s just a matter of letting it go for a whole practice and letting him get that done tomorrow, barring the rain. And, of course, we still have Thursday, Friday, Saturday to get him ready so I think he’ll be fine by Monday."

It will be interesting to see Jackson on the field with Robert Griffin III and the other parts of the Redskins first-team offense. Jackson could match up against Cleveland cornerback Joe Haden, one of the best at the position, leaving Pierre Garçon with a more advantageous defender.
