Jeff Green chases down Mychel Thompson for the block (VIDEO)

The Boston Celtics made a number of notable acquisitions this offseason, from veteran scorer Jason Terry to rookie power forward Jared Sullinger. One of their biggest additions, though, was a player already on the team: forward Jeff Green, who missed all of last season while recovering from serious heart surgery. He's back now, after signing a new deal with the Celtics this offseason, and expected to be a big part of their team as they try to return to the NBA Finals.

This preseason, Green has impressed. In eight games (two of which he's started), he's averaged 13.9 ppg on 49.4 percent shooting from the field and 4.9 rpg. Those aren't sterling numbers, but they're solid ones for a reserve. And, on Saturday night, Green made the highlight reels with this chasedown block of New York Knicks wing Mychel Thompson. Enjoy it above.

There are many reasons to be skeptical of Green this season, not the least of which being that he'd be quite overpaid even if not for concerns about his health. Even so, it's tough not to get excited by plays like this one. A year ago, Green had the kind of health scare that no one should have to deal with. Now, he's blocking opponents on fast breaks. No matter what you think of his quality of play, that's pretty cool.
