Every so often, we hear one or two horror stories about the family of visiting ballplayers being mistreated in some way at a playoff-type game. We are 1 for 1 so far in the 2013 postseason with Dallas Latos, the wife of Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mat Latos, telling a pretty awful sounding story about being assaulted by a woman at PNC Park on Tuesday night during the NL wild card game.

Latos tweeted about 9:45 p.m. ET that she had been punched in the head at least three times by a female Pittsburgh Pirates fan after being "ambushed at the Budweiser bar" inside of PNC. Latos said she had told "a huge dude to stop being mean" to the grandmother of Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco. After the dude threatened to beat her, Latos said, she tried informing security. At some point thereafter, she was assaulted.

Latos said she filed a police report, but also ripped ballpark security for an alleged lack of interest in pursuing the alleged bad guys. Her experiences at PNC, to this point, had been OK.

Here's the story in Latos' own words. Some of the tweets include adult language and themes. Parental discretion is advised:

Latos' evening sounds even worse than what happened the Reds, 6-2 losers to the Pirates. But all we have right now is her account. Nothing yet from Pirates security and little else from fans who might have seen and/or participated in the argument.

Dallas Latos is one of the more popular ballplayer spouses on Twitter. She sometimes says irreverent things and publishes funny videos of Mat Latos and/or their pet dog(s). She also blogs. How else to describe her? An attractive blonde who don't take crap from nobody. As someone who puts herself out there — nothing wrong with that — she also was bound to get sick and profane replies on Twitter from attention-seeking dopes. She said most of the replies were supportive, and it seems like she'll be OK.

Mat Latos did not see action in the wild card game. He originally was scheduled to start it, but an elbow injury put him on the sidelines.
