The Hank Aaron All-Stars: Great players with 2 first names

Big League Stew

Despite his fantastic debut on Tuesday, Jay Bruce has his work cut out for him if he aspires to an All-Star career. He has more than just the usual hurdles working against him, too, because for an indicator of future success, you are required to look no further than a player's name.

Why? Well, if he has two first names (i.e., Sean Casey, Stephen Drew) it appears that his chances of developing into a superstar are rather minimal.

The list of great (or even good) ballplayers with two first names just ain't that long, so we have taken it upon ourselves to put together an all-time list of great players with two first names.

(The names of Hall of Fame members are italicized.)

Infield: C — Bill Dickey 1B — Buck Leonard 2B — Billy Herman 3B — George Brett. SS — Bill Russell

Outfield: Hank Aaron, Eddie Murray (three career games in LF!), Joe Carter

Designated Hitter: Frank Thomas

Pitching staff: Steve Carlton, Nolan Ryan, Joe Nathan

Bench: Gary Carter, Bill Terry, Joe Morgan, Fred Lynn, Mark Grace, Frank Howard, Ryan Howard, Juan Samuel

Managers and coaches: Connie Mack, Roger Craig, Tom Kelly

Did we miss anyone? Who else out there belongs in the MLB players with two first names group?
