Michigan Little League champs boast a 6-foot-2, 210-pound 12-year-old first baseman
As we barrel toward the Little League World Series, play continues in regions across the country. The Great Lakes region features a particularly strong squad from Michigan, with Grosse Pointe (Mich.) closing in on a berth in Williamsport, Pa. one win at a time.
The team has a good story behind it and whoa look at the size of that first baseman!
Apparently Grosse Pointe Michigan is the home to at least one family of giants, because they have bred an absolutely enormous 12-year-old baseball player. The Michigan star in question is Chad Lorkowski, who is 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds.
Yes, 6-foot-2 and 210. At age 12. The Big Lead crunched the numbers and found that Lorkowski is just 10 pounds away from Joey Votto and 20 away from Mike Trout. He's terrifying. His nickname is Swag-Daddy because, hey, who is going to tell a 6-foot-2, 210-pound 12-year-old his nickname isn't Swag-Daddy.
Imagine seeing Joey Votto at the plate when you're a 5-foot-3 pitcher. Jeepers. Unlike MLB, he's only 46 feet away, too (the little league mound is 46 feet from home plate while the base paths are 60 feet apart).
Lorkowski splits time between the pitching mound and first base and reportedly excels in both roles. He can certainly cover a lot of ground with a decent stretch from either position.
