Marcus Smart's shock and awe dunks have plenty watching

Lately, Marcus Smart has been put under the microscope for more than being one of the nation's most promising junior boys basketball prospects. In addition to spearheading Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus High's Class 5A playoff run, Smart's eligibility has been put under review, after it was revealed that he and his family were living in a house owned by an assistant coach of his AAU team, and paying a rent rate below the area's standards.

Yet the most significant reason why all that attention has attached itself to Smart is because the Dallas-area star really is that good. While the small forward has plenty of physical attributes that make recruiters drool, none stand out as much as his pure athleticism. The two dunks below show just how striking that athleticism is.

The clip you see above comes from Flower Mound Marcus' 58-38 victory against Mansfield (Texas) Legacy High earlier this year -- amazingly, it was filmed on an iPhone4 by Flower Mound Marcus junior Andrew Scarbeck -- and might be the single-best rebound dunk we've seen in a high school game. Not only did Smart elevate above everyone else on the court -- and the rim, for that matter -- he also simultaneously used every inch of his wingspan to throw down one of the better dunks of the year.

Yet that isn't the only amazing dunk that Smart recorded in his junior year. As you can see below, Smart is equally explosive off the dribble, strong enough to run over (and then dunk over) a standing opponent at the rim.

So, is Smart the best dunker in the Class of 2012? Probably not, but he probably is among the class' most explosive athletes, which makes him worth watching now and at the next level, wherever he ends up.
