Playing the field at the Verizon Heritage

Welcome to Playing the Field, where we survey the key players and stories at each tournament, giving you the guys to watch and the stories to know. Today, we're shaking off the last of the Augusta azaleas and heading to Hilton Head, South Carolina for the Verizon Heritage.

Brian Gay: Your 2009 Verizon Heritage winner has only one top-10 finish this season, and he's coming off an ugly 74-77 missed cut in Augusta. Time to get Chapter 2 of 2010 underway.

Jim Furyk: The sooner he can get the stench of a rotten Masters out of his head, the better.

Boo Weekley: Ol' Boo loves this here tournament, having won it twice already. And he's always a threat here. The Tour's a better place with Boo on it, so here's hoping he rides that pony right through to Sunday.

Lucas Glover and Stewart Cink: Two of last year's -- oh, let's say, less-well-known majors class are in attendance this week, and now would be as good a time as any for them to get their 2009s in gear.

Davis Love III: He's won this tournament five times over the period from 1987 to 2003, so you've got to figure he's a good bet to at least see the weekend. He's in the midst of a rough season -- zero top-10s since a tie for 5th in the season's first week -- and a good performance in familiar territory could do him a world of good.

All right, you're up. Who's your pick for this weekend? Go!
