Week 15 Injury Wrap: Waiting for Julio Jones, DeSean Jackson

Congrats on making it this far in the fantasy season, amigos. All things considered, the injury report doesn't look that daunting. Let's start with the wide receivers and tight ends.

• Julio Jones (hip) missed the full practice week and the Falcons are calling him a game-time decision. At least we catch a break with the schedule timing – Atlanta has a 1 p.m. ET start against Pittsburgh. Roddy White and Harry Douglas would get a bump up, theoretically, if Jones can't go.

I have Jones on one roster (a deeper league, at that) and I'm not going to play him. He'll be outside the Top 40 on my final wideout rankings. Even if he plays, I'm concerned about him being limited or deployed as a decoy.

• DeSean Jackson (shin) had a partial week of practice and his status will probably come down to Sunday. The Redskins have an early start at the Giants. The backups on this roster do not deserve fantasy consideration in standard leagues.

• Torrey Smith (knee) had a full practice Friday and has a shot to play against Jacksonville.

• Andre Johnson (post concussion) is another game-time decision. He had a limited workout Friday after missing the two prior days.

• The Patriots have a bunch of players on their injury report, including Julian Edelman (thigh) and Brandon LaFell (shoulder). They're both listed as questionable, but context clues suggest this is just Bill Belichick's way of messing with an opponent. New England has an early kickoff with Miami, so you'll know the game-relevant status before the window closes.

• If you're desperate at tight end, it sounds like Charles Clay (knee) will play, though he's listed as questionable. He was limited during the week.

• Jermaine Gresham (toe) missed Friday's practice and is a risky start for the game at Cleveland.

• Kendall Wright might play through his broken hand, but we hope you don't need to dig this deep. Nate Washington has some sleeper value against the spotty Jets secondary.

• Percy Harvin (ankle) did some work Friday after two absent days. There's a chance he'll play at Tennessee, but it's certainly no guarantee. The club lists him as questionable.

• With Brandon Marshall (ribs) down for the year, Marquess Wilson becomes an interesting sleeper Monday night against New Orleans. Say this for the Chicago offense: at least it has a very narrow tree when it comes to passing options.

Running Back

• Ryan Mathews (ankle) didn't work all week and it doesn't sound like he'll play against Denver. Branden Oliver and Donald Brown are the alternatives.

• Although no one seems to think Rashad Jennings (ankle) is 100 percent, the Giants don't list him on the injury report. He's expected to play in some vein this week, sharing with Andre Williams.

• Ronnie Hillman (foot) might be able to play, not that you'd want to start him on spec this week. C.J. Anderson has been terrific for a month.

• Isaiah Crowell (hip) is listed as probable and did everything in practice, so he sets up as Cleveland's starting back against Cincinnati. Terrance West looms, however, and could always get extra work if he starts out hot.

• With DeAngelo Williams (hand) doubtful, the Panthers are expected to rely on Jonathan Stewart again.

• Eddie Lacy (hip) is listed as probable, though he missed some work in each of the practice days. James Starks is a quality understudy and change-of-pace back. Check in with Lacy's status before the 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Buffalo.

• With Denard Robinson (foot) out for the year, the Jaguars are back to the Toby Gerhart experience. I don't see Gerhart doing a lot at Baltimore, but if you're desperate, maybe you'll consider him.

• Lorenzo Taliaferro (knee) missed the full practice week and isn't expected to play against Jacksonville. Look for Bernard Pierce to back up Justin Forsett.

• Roy Helu (toe) won't play in Week 15, which means Silas Redd will be the backup for Alfred Morris.

Other Positions

• The Redskins gave Colt McCoy (neck) a full practice Friday, and it sounds like he'll get the call at the Giants. The Washington offensive line has struggled recently in pass blocking (getting little help from McCoy and Robert Griffin), which sets up a case for the Giants defense.

• With Zach Mettenberger out for the year, Jake Locker gets the call against the Jets. Maybe this will get Delanie Walker in form – his best form came with Locker earlier in the year.

• Cam Newton (back) has already been ruled out, which sets up Derek Anderson to start at home against Tampa Bay. Anderson did well in this matchup back in Week 1, and more important for our fantasy interests, he showed rapport with Greg Olsen and Kelvin Benjamin.

• Billy Cundiff is battling a sore knee, which promoted the Browns to try out a handful of free-agent kickers. Might as well avoid this situation completely. Cleveland hosts Cincinnati on Sunday, Johnny Manziel's much-awaited starting debut.
